Our client is a $150 million wholesale apparel business with 120 employees with locations in Harrison, NJ and Midtown Manhattan. They are experts for over thirty-five years in Women’s Updated Casual Sportswear, Weekend and Active Wear. This private company is looking for a hands-on CFO to manage a team of 20 people in both the Manhattan and NJ locations for wholesale apparel business, which has multiple companies and divisions. 

While they are not a family business, they like to run it that way. Their people tend to stay with them for a long time, so you would be coming into a stable environment looking for your help in growing the business and modernizing their operations. 

The company has experienced sales growth nearly tenfold over the last decade through internal expansions and acquisitions. 

The ideal candidate will have experience working with discounters and apparel stores, as well as strong banking and factoring relationship experience. We are looking for a hands-on financial professional who can manage workflow, understand systems, and actively contribute to work product. Ability to provide monthly and on-demand financial reporting and analysis for business owners is crucial. 

This is a hybrid work schedule with 3 days a week in Harrison, NJ, 1 day a week in Midtown, and Friday is remote.  

 

Qualifications: 

– Ideal candidate should have experience in wholesale apparel, specifically understanding the nuances of working with discounters and department stores, including managing chargebacks 

– CPA preferred 

– Strong banking and factoring relationship experience is critical, with the ability to manage weekly cash needs and financial reporting 

– Candidate should be capable of both strategic management and hands-on work, as the current expectation is for the CFO to be a ‘doer’ who can manage workflow and support systems 

– The organization wants someone who can bring sophisticated financial reporting, analysis, and operational improvements to the business 

– Technical skills are essential, including advanced Excel proficiency and computer literacy for financial analysis and reporting 

– Experience managing 5+ direct reports 

Pay range is $150-180k.
